| コスチューム 我々人類は、衣服を身に纏うようになってから、いく久しい。 今では、天然・合成・混合、無数の素材を千変万化の手法で織り、染色し、あるいは、模様を描き、印刷し、その上さらに、裁断・縫製と、気の遠くなるような可能性が、量的にも価格的にも、手の届くところにある。 言うまでもなく、身に纏うものは、表面の衣服に止まらない。 肌着・靴下・靴・手袋・帽子・ネクタイ・ハンカチ・眼鏡・腕時計・傘・バッグ・小物・・・。 選んで身に着けることを考える人々は、大変な努力をし、時間を割いている。 髪型・ヘヤースタイルも大事だ。 銀座・六本木・渋谷・新宿・・・。 仕事・会合・デート・ショッピング・散歩・ジョギング・・・。昼・夜・・・。 時と場合と場所と、選択、決断の条件・要素は、大いに、あるいは、微妙に異なるわけだ。 では、何故一生懸命に考え、悩んでいるのか。 実は、それは、単に際立とう、他と異なろうという努力ではない。 思考の奥深く、本人も気づかぬことだが、求めているのは、何よりも先ず、他と同一になろうという努力であり、第一の目的なのである。 見回して、浮かない、飛び離れない、同じ群れに所属していることが保証され、安心する。 その範囲でほんの少々だけ区別されたい、ということなのだ。 さもなければ、見回すことも、時と場合と場所など、面倒なことは考えなくても良い筈だ。 そもそも、我々人類は、自然界の他の動物たち、昆虫たちに比べて、肉体的にみすぼらしい。 魚も、鳥も、大小の動物たちも、それぞれ、完璧であり、その美しさには息を呑むばかりだ。 我々は、実はこのことに気づいている。 地下鉄の車内に、乗客全員が全裸で居るイメージは、想像するだけでも恐ろしい。 Costume We human beings have a long history of wearing costume. Today there are innumerable choices of the costumes. The materials can be natural, synthetic and combined. The weaving technique, the dyeing and printing technique are highly developed giving so many fantastic variations. Upon them, designers are working day and night seeking for their creations. The line up of the products is so various and the prices are not so high. We can wear most of them. There are many other items to complete our look. Under wears, socks, stockings, shoes, gloves, hat or cap, neck tie, handkerchief, glasses, wrist watch, parasol, bag and other small articles. There are many people who spend hours for choosing these components. The hair style is also very important. If you are intending to go to Ginza or Roppongi, for office, party, date, shopping or for a promenade, day time or night time, you must be very careful for your choice. But why are you so puzzled and anxious for your choice of the costume? Do you work hard to be different from the others? No. You want to be recognized as a member of your group, your society or your mate. You are eager to be accepted as a member of your tribe, race or your gang, so that you are assured and feel safe. If you only want to be special you can make your choice exactly as you like. We human beings are physically much inferior to other animals. Insects, fish, birds, small animals and big animals, all of them are perfectly shaped and beautiful. I think actually we know it. Therefore we put on a costume. Can you imagine that we all in a subway car totally naked? It must be horrible. The ugly scene I dare not even imagine. |
