飛び抜けた能力
オリンピックのことを考えていたら、我々人類の身体能力は、「走る・跳ぶ・泳ぐ」どれも地球上の動物仲間に全然敵わないことに気が付きました。　それは、先月のこと。
それがどうも気になって、気持ちが落ち着かない。　そこで、何か勝てることがあるのではと、弱小少年サッカーチームのコーチになった積もりで、色々考えをめぐらしました。
人類は、遊ぶことに長けているというけれども、見回すと、蝶々トンボ・小鳥たちから、仔犬まで、楽しく遊んでいるのは、決して我々が一番ではなさそうです。
我々は、石を投げることが出来ます。　これこそは、我々の飛びぬけて秀でた能力でしょう。　少年ダヴィデは、皮製の石投げ器でゴリアトを倒したという話は有名です。　掴む、咬むという直接接触の場から、離れた距離を越えて突然飛来するという、異次元空間への第一歩が投石なのです。　　月世界旅行もここから始まりました。
ビー玉遊び・ボッチェ・ペタンク・野球・ビリヤード・サッカー・バスケットボール・テニス・卓球、我々が熱中するスポーツゲームのほとんどが、球技ですね。　丸いボールに回転を与えると何が起こるか、飛び方・弾み方の知識は初心者が最初に出会う戸惑いであり、理解してマスターせねばならぬ第一関門です。　無回転ボールの効果もあります。　「理解力・コツ・学習能力」、何となく人類ですと胸を張れそうですね。
我々が、地球上の動物達よりも飛び抜けて秀でているのは、「人類だけが火を使い、道具を使うから」、ともいいます。　しかし、エネルギー、天然資源を浪費せねばならない生活システムを夢中になって築き、カラシニコフから原発まで、地球上の仲間の動物たちに自慢できるものとは思えません。　十万年・二十万年といった遠い未来の話より、千年・二千年・百年・二百年、という孫・子の世代、歴史上の即近の時代から見返った時、「恥ずかしく、平謝り・・・・」で済めば良いのですが。
The great ability of us
In running, jumping or swimming, we are inferior to the animals. If the Olympic Games were also open for the animals, we would have no chance to win. I didn’t feel happy when I came to this conclusion, it was depressing, it wasn’t nice. I have tried to find out if there is some athletic branch where we are superior to the other animals.
It is said we are “Homo Ludens”; we are good in plays, we enjoy playing.　But butterflies, birds and puppies, we can’t be so much superior to them in playing.
We can throw stones. A young boy David defeated Goliath by throwing a stone. To hold and to bite, these take place in the direct contact field. A stone suddenly hits you as if appearing from another world, from another field. It is the first step of the journey to the moon.
Marbles, bocce, petanque, baseball, billiard, soccer, basketball, tennis; they all are ball games. We have found many ball games. When a rotating ball moves, many expected and unexpected phenomena would happen. To realize and to understand these phenomena are the first hurdles which all the beginners of any ball games have to clear. There also are behavior problems of non-rotating ball. The abilities to perceive, to understand, the skill and the learning ability; we might be proud of them among the animals. Perhaps.
It is said that human beings are superior to the other animals because only we can use fire and tools. But we, without consideration for the fate of our globe, have been building up a life style and social systems based on the waste of the natural resources and energy. I can not be proud that we have invented the Kalashnikovs and the atomic power stations. I am afraid that in the not so far future as 100,000 years, but in the very close future, our grand-grand children might be ashamed of their own grand-grand parents and apologize to their mate animals for our idiotic failures.
