 初日の出 我々日本人は、太陽・月・海・山・滝・巨木、大自然に霊気を感じます。 これを、原始宗教・アニミズムと、一言で片付けるよりも、宇宙と人間との関係を体感する機会と捉えることが大切、そう私は考えます。 初日の出の太陽は、東方水平線を輝かして昇る。 これは、私の個人的連想です。 私のイメージでは、夕日の沈むのも西方水平線です。 しかし、考えてみると、日本でも西側・日本海を前にした人々にとっては、東南の開けた海岸線ということはあまりないでしょう。 ロスアンゼルスでは、「サンセット通り」となるわけですね。 もちろん、内陸に住む人々、大部分の中国人・ロシア人・ヨーロッパ人・・・何のことはない、水平線から昇る日の出に感激する人々は、地球人口のうち極く僅かなのです。 日本の或る政治家が、仏教とキリスト教の違いを、言葉足らずに、乱暴に単純化して解説しました。 それに対して、キリスト教側の人々が激しく反発しているそうです。 仏教徒、キリスト教徒でも、回教徒、ヒンズー教徒でも、宗教を声高に語り、生活信条とする方々の数と、水平線上の初日の出を体験できる人々と、どちらが多いと思いますか。 自分の考えを声高に語れない人々、教育を受けられない人々、飢えを満たすこと出来ない子供達、地球の富の偏った分配の犠牲者の数は、どの位なのでしょうか。 The New Year’s Day sunrise We Japanese worship natural phenomena; the sun, the moon, the ocean the mountain, and many others. It is a simple conclusion that these types of the cultures are the rests of primitive religions, the animism. But it is a precious moment to experience the relation between the universe and we human being. For me, according to my personal association, the New Year’s Day sun rises above the horizon of the ocean, neither above the tree tops nor above the mountain ridges. Even the sunset is into the ocean. There are coast lines with eastern side facing to sea. But there also are coast lines with western side facing to sea, where you have no chance to enjoy the sunrises. Therefore "Sunset Boulevard" is in Los Angels. And the people who live in the continents; most of Chinese, Russian, European…, they have no ocean for the sunrise. We who worship the sunrise above the ocean are really a minority in the world. Recently a Japanese politician made a very rough comparison between Buddhism and Christianity. Some high ranked church people immediately contradicted this comparison. Today, how many of us are so religious? Do Buddhists, Christians, Moslems or Hindis, believe and follow their religions’ codes? Are they, in number, more than the people who worship the sunrise? There are people, who are not allowed to express their own opinions, who can’t go to school. There are children who can’t get food sufficiently. They are victims of the unfair distribution of the world wealth. How many are they? |
